The UESI National Consultation envisioning the future of UESI, had around 10 presentations over 36 hours with the presence and participation of a few pioneers, senior graduates, students, staff workers, and the board core.

Kick-starting with the overview of the consultation, UESI President John Samuel presented the statistics of the premier institutes, universities, colleges and number of students throughout the nation furnishing the broader view of the vision of UESI, claiming, “If we succeed as an organization, the nation succeeds”. Consequently, he authorized the following 5 major building blocks to be focused as a practical way to flourish as an organization: Personal excellence, Professional excellence, Institutional excellence, Students excellence and Societal excellence.

The deliberations further advanced to the panel discussions on making the UESI a vibrant and relevant movement, structure and governance, empowering graduates in Faith, Character and Competence, Finances of UESI etc. resulting in fruitful implications. Media, music and technology in the digital age to engage with students was emphasized to be a pressing and prime concern. One of the sessions was led by the students, presenting on ‘The Kind of UESI We Want to Have’, explaining why the organization is struggling to fulfil its vision and giving suggestions for the same. The open forum was also held with the board core for the participants to share thoughts and recommendations for the betterment of the organization. Finally, the staff perspective and aspirations were presented by Bro. Jacob Varghese, our General Secretary.

The consultation challenged the delegates to brainstorm and come up with realistic insights in facilitating this ministry to be a student led movement and their progress of discipleship in terms of intellectual formation, spiritual/biblical formation and personal development.

“The Vision of UESI is as big as the vision of India and as big as the universities in India” – Vijaya Parmar, Former UESI Staff worker.
