UK Friends of UESI Annual Meeting 2018

Every year, the first Saturday of July marks special day for UK Friends of UESI as we gather for the Annual meeting. This time it was on 7 July, at St Johns Mar Thoma Church, Hounslow, London, as arranged by Mr Suresh Samuel.

Dr Joseph Daniel compered the meeting and started it off with prayer followed by an inspiring time of worship and singing, led by the youth of the Mar Thoma Church.

Then Dr K.M. Mathew led the devotion from Ps 118: 8 & 9, “It is better to Trust in the Lord than to trust in humans . . .” Because. . .

His love endures forever (Vv. 1- 4); He is our salvation (v. 14); He makes all things new (Rev. 21:5); He will give us glorious bodies (1 Cor. 15); and He always looks at the heart – therefore His standards at acceptance are very different from ours. Dr. Mathew illustrated the same by narrating his own story of how he got his first job in the UK despite a poor reference.

Once the Skype arrangements were made, Mr John Jebaraj James, the Secretary of East Zone presented the work of the UESI. His presentation was succinct, interspersed with time to pray for the points raised. It was indeed very encouraging to see the Lord’s doing among the students in India – especially the scores of students were presented with the Gospel was simply marvellous. There were many other facts & figures presented that were encouraging. Halfway through the presentation, we broke up for lunch and relished the tasty Kerala style meal that was arranged by Mrs Shamini & Mr Suresh Samuel.

The post lunch session continued with the presentation by JJJ. At the end of the presentation, all the 16 assembled adults and 4 children got a good understanding of the work carried out by the UESI. We all praised God for His provision of people and resources for this work. It was encouraging to note that the most of the needs of UESI were met from within India and 13.5% from overseas friends. We consider it our privilege to be part of this great work in a very small way.

The meeting ended with prayer and it was followed by a meeting of the Trustees of the UK Friends of UESI. Our thanks to the Chairman of the Trust Rev. Basil Scott for his untiring work in running the Trust affairs with the Charity Commission. Our thanks also to Mrs Kavitha Sasikumar, who does a great job as Treasurer.
