On the mountain heights of Israel, I will plant it; it will produce branches and bear fruit and becomes a splendid cedar. Birds of every kind will nest in it; they will find shelter in the shade of its branches. Ezekiel 17:23
Nagaland, called as the ‘Land of Festivals’, became the 16th state of India on 1st December 1963. Two students Kiremwati and Tali Alinger from Nagaland who were blest and influenced by the UESI ministry while studying in Calcutta University between 1955-59, came back and zealously sowed the seed of the students’ ministry in Nagaland. Tali Alinger came as a Professor toFazl Ali College Mokokchung, and he gathered students in his house for prayer and Bible study which later became the centre of student’s fellowship and EU cell meetings. As time progressed, God graciously started working amongst the students and many students experienced the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour. The first EU was formed in 1965 and was affiliated to the UESI.
The first summer camp was conducted in June 1969 with Mr. Lois Samraj and Mr. Ronald S Adhikari (Staff worker of UESI North East Region) as the resource persons. The first Nagaland State EGF Committee was formed on 19th of Oct. 1973 with Mr. Kiremwati (Principal of Kohima Sc. College) as the first President. The first Nagaland EGF Conference was held on 13th-16th Dec. 1973 under the theme, “Grow in Grace” (2Peter 3:18) with Mr. Ronald S Adhikari as the speaker.
The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. Psalm 145:9. Due to His unfailing love ,mercies and faithfulness , efforts of students, graduates , staff and the investment made by our pioneers, the ministry of UESI in Nagaland was decentralized in 2011 with its head office at Kohima. Lanu Tzudir was the first State Secretary followed by Moatoshi Imsong (former Zonal Secretary of NE Zone) who is the present State Secretary. Nagaland celebrated its Golden Jubilee, a glorious testimony of God’s faithfulness and a moment of reaffirming the vision of UESI in 2015. All glory and honor be to our Almighty God.
Today we are reaping a great harvest in all the 11 Districts of Nagaland. Camps, Retreats, and various ministry activities are being held throughout the year. Seven Staff workers and nine Coordinators are toiling hard in God’s vineyard reaching out to students with the gospel of Christ, travelling across rivers and mountainous terrains to make Nagaland a vibrant Christian state.
