The 2nd Zonal Consultation for South Zone was held from Feb 22nd – 24th. UESI K hosted this event at Bangalore in the Student’s center at Doddagubbi. State Secretaries and Executive Committee along with Student Representatives & Department leaders from each of the states in the South Zone – Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala were present. The Leadership team from National UESI – the representatives from FDD, FAD, SDD, TTD, OPEC, C&N along with the GS were also present for the interactive meet. There were totally 70 members present in the meeting.
The meet began on 22nd evening with devotion led by Bro Sudheer Gaddam from the book of Amos. On 23rd, all the states presented their ministry updates and best practices enabling mutual learning, sharing and prayer for each other. The National Treasurer Franky Fernandez presented the finance updates and guidelines with appeals for compliance, effective communication and consistent giving. The zonal coordination meeting was held with all the state and national leaders. Review of past decisions was done. Consolidation of ministry in Puducherry and Yanam with mutual help from both states was discussed. There were parallel meetings of NEGF, TTD, P&E and Student Reps reviewing the priority areas and reports of each state.
Some of the best practices observed – Micro prayer cell concept from AP-TS, the mentoring booklet released by TS enabling effective mentoring, chain prayer initiative from Karnataka, the online matrimonial site developed by AP-TS, Student council meetings held in several states and their contributions in reviewing the ministry. Kerala expressed the need for more staff. TS expressed the need for Hindi speaking staff. A meet for graduating students to enable skill development will be hosted by AP-TS in Nov 2019.
A student from AP, Chaitanya took the evening devotion drawing from the life of Hannah and Samuel. Bro. John Victor presented a paper on how ministry in AP-TS progressed and the steps taken for this growth. Bro Sudheer Gaddam took the opportunity to also thank the ZS, Bro GK Matthew for his efforts. UESI Karnataka deserves our whole hearted appreciation for their kind hospitality and arrangements.
Finally, UESI GS called the gathering to focus on the Student Movement and to remember the reason for the existence of UESI. Each of the departments provided a consolidated report emphasizing the priority areas and needs. Rev Itty Matthew from Kerala led a time of worship.
The meeting ended with lunch on Sunday. The next Zonal meet will be held in 2 years from now.
